Wake Forest Swimmer Doesn’t Let Blindness Stand in the Way of Paralympic Glory

Evan, a North Carolina Virtual Academy student and Paralympian, has excelled both in the pool and the classroom despite being nearly blind due to Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. Using adaptive techniques, he secured medals at the 2023 Pan American Games and competed in the Paralympics. Virtual schooling provides the flexibility he needs to balance academics and training. This fall, he’ll attend Ouachita Baptist University, aiming for future Paralympic success while studying sports management and Christian ministry.
