Parents’ Bill of Rights

North Carolina Senate Bill 49 requires the implementation of the Parents’ Bill of Rights, and policies associated with the involvement of parents in the education of their children. North Carolina Virtual Academy recognizes and values the critical role of parents in school and in the education of their children. NC Learns, Inc. Board of Directors and K12 Stride, Inc. work to develop programs which will promote and support parental involvement in student learning and achievement at school and at home and encourage successful progress toward graduation. Each parent is encouraged to learn about the educational program, the educational goals and objectives of the school system, and his or her own child’s progress. NCVA also encourages parents to participate in their children’s education and in activities designed by school personnel to involve them, such as parent conferences, to foster effective teacher and parent communication.
