How To Enroll
Applications for the 2023–2024 school year are now being accepted from families that did not apply during the lottery window.
Seats are limited. Apply today.
ENROLLMENT LOTTERY
NCVA holds a randomized enrollment lottery every year using Scribbles lottery software to fill the available seats fairly and equitably. The lottery determines which new students will receive a seat offer, which will receive a position on the Waitlist, and the Waitlist order for the next school year. Students of NCVA staff; students who are the sibling of a currently enrolled NCVA student; and students of a multiple birth group, such as twins, triplets, etc., are eligible to receive preference. Our lottery is publicly undertaken and may be attended by anyone who registers.
Families who wish to enroll their children for the upcoming school year have the earliest opportunity to do so by submitting a lottery application. Parents/ guardians submit ONE lottery application for their student, and the student is then placed into the lottery for the grade level they will enter for the 2023–2024 school year (not their current grade level!)
***NOTE: The Lottery application is not an official enrollment application. Parents/ guardians will need to submit the student's enrollment application after the lottery is held. They will receive explicit instructions and deadlines in due time.
Results will be emailed on the lottery date by COB and include whether your child received a seat or was placed on the Waitlist (and their Waitlist number). If you do not receive an email from the school within 1 to 2 days after the posted lottery date, please check your spam/ junk folder. After confirming the email has yet to be received, contact the school to inquire.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
North Carolina Virtual Academy (NCVA) has an enrollment cap set by the state for the upcoming school year. Seats will be selected by lottery from the applications submitted between February 13, 2023, and April 14, 2023. Applicants not selected in the lottery will be placed on our Waitlist. Seat offers will be extended throughout the school year as space becomes available.
Families who applied during the lottery window will be notified by email of their status following the lottery drawing on April 21. This email explains the next steps to enroll, including creating a parent portal account. After the lottery, families can log in to their account on the lottery website and see their application status and results.
Families who did not apply during the lottery window may submit an application for the 2023–2024 school year in May. Once all documentation is submitted, applicants will be added to the Waitlist and notified once a space becomes available. You may request your student's Waitlist position by emailing info@ncvacademy.org with your student's name and grade level. Waitlist information will be available starting in early June.

Four Simple Steps to Enroll
Create Parent Account
The Parent Portal provides access to your online application, real-time alerts, and quick links to important info.
Submit an Application
Once you've begun an application in the Parent Portal, click the option to add a new student or continue with your application. Simply fill in the fields with your child's information, select the school you wish your child to attend, and hit Submit.
Upload Additional Documents
In this step, you'll provide more detailed information about your child and upload additional documents, such as proof of residency and a birth certificate. For a list of specific documents that will be required, contact our enrollment consultants at 855.669.3660.
Welcome to K12!
Once all documents have been approved, you student will then obtain a seat, if available, or be placed on the wait list. When a seat becomes available, the enrollment center will reach out to you to formally offer a seat.
Please note, due to our enrollment capacity, your student may be wait-listed. We recommend having an alternate educational plan in place for your student until a seat is offered to you.
